I must confess: I like True Blood
Yeah, it's trashy and violent but it makes me laugh out loud. Anyone else like the show?

1. I do.
As is the norm, the books are FAR better.

There are some deviations in the show that bother me a great deal and others that I very much like. I did not like the plot line of Maryann in season 2 (massive deviation from books). I HATE how they are portraying Eric (he's MUCH more likable in the books which gets more important as the story develops). I like the casting of Jason and Eric and Lafayette, HATE the casting of the queen (Sophie-Anne). Love the Jessica/Hoyt stuff.

Overall I like the series and I am anxious for the next book.

2. well, I haven't read the books. Never even heard of them
I think Eric is funny as hell. And I think the actor who plays him is terrific as well as incredibly sexy. sort of like a young Viggo Mortenson. The Bill character's a little dull, he's so noble.

Most of all, I'm surprised by how funny it is with its riffs on contemporary culture and right wingers.

3. The actors who play Bill and Sookie are engaged in real life.
The writing of the show is generally pretty great. Alan Ball did awesome work on Six Feet Under as well. I agree that Alexander Skarsgård does a great job as Eric and he's SUPER hot. I am really excited about season 3 because there are some really awesome twists in store for Eric and I can't wait to see how they develop.

There are 9 books (10th due out in May 2010). Season 1 was PRETTY close to book 1, but season 2 deviated quite a bit and even brought in some stuff from book 3. Those of us who are really into the books like the fact that it's close to the books, but different enough to keep is interested because we don't know everything that's going to happen. In any case, if it stays as popular as it is, it's in for a long run on HBO.

4. I'm just waiting for Alcide
They better cast someone freaking amazing and not blow it like they did with Sophie-Ann.

I didn't mind the Maryann storyline as much as some people did, only because it gave Sam and Tara a bigger storyline than in the book.

5. I really enjoy True Blood
I started watching as it was created by Alan Ball of "Six Feet Under" fame. Great show and I think they did a great job with the casting. I won't see season 2 until it comes out on dvd and I'm looking forward to it.

I started reading the books while watching season 1. The books are very entertaining, also. I like that the show is not following the books exactly.

The theme song ("I Wanna Do Bad Things With You") is perfect.
