Printer isn't working - Help, please? |
|
So, I go into the office and my Airport Extreme network is down. No biggie, I just use the ethernet cable to access the internet and my network. Then I try to print - I get a message from the print software that it can't communicate with the printer.
Print a test page by hitting the test switch on the back, shut down the printer, unplug it from the network, delete the printer from my printer list, restart the computer, replug the printer, start it up, add it back to my printer list and try again. No luck.
Launch Safari, enter the printer address and the message comes back "The specified server cannot be found" - Get Network utilities up and enter the printer address and ping it. 100% packet loss - Print the test page via the test button on the back and the IP address hasn't changed. Restart - try to print, no luck. Any ideas?

Did you happen to upgrade to Snow Leopard recently? It breaks about 90% of all print drivers...
I've always had loads of trouble printing via airport. Try plugging the printer directly into your computer and seeing if you can get it to print that way. Then disconnect and try it through the airport.

But it is a network printer - either an ethernet cable or that multipin thing (a D25 I think) that I've never used. I've never tried plugging it directly into the ethernet port.
And it's been printing for a week on the Snow Leopard drivers.

3. Oh, I thought it was USB |

not sure plugging your ethernet cable directly in will work either... sorry for the presumption.
Good luck!

4. You might find better help in the computer group on this forum. |

I had such problem a few weeks ago. Address was the problem. This this week a similar. It was the port was not enable in bios. The parallel port in bios. But you sound like you have an address problem. But it could be driver. Now that I'm running the printer that was running on the lan on usb I have to use (copy 1) or it won't run. dc
