What's your sense of humor type?
I thought about making this a poll, but as there are so many different types, I figured everybody would post their own anyway. Below is a partial alphabetical list of senses of humor that I found. Please feel free to mix and match, or provide your own description.

As for me, I consider my sense of humor to be dry, off-beat, and sarcastic.

Sense of Humor Types:
Abstract, amusing, antic, bawdy, buffoon, bumpkin, bizarre, child-like, clever, cornball, cheerful, cynical, daring, darling, deadpan, devilish, derisive, droll, dry, elfish, expansive, facetious, farcical, far-out, flaky, gleeful, gross, grotesque, hostile, hysterical, impish, insulting, jocular, jolly, jovial, kibbitzing, licentious, lively, ludicrous, merry, mischievous, nitwit, nonsensical, observational, off-beat, outrageous, parody, perverse, playful, poor-soul, punny, quirky, raucous, ribald, risqué, sarcastic, sardonic, satirical, self-deprecating, sick, silly, simple, smart-alec, superior, teasing, topical, uninhibited, unique, vexatious, visual, wacky, waggish, weird, whimsical, witty, wry, X-rated, yummy, zany.

1. Well I'm one or two of the 'a' group, one of the 'b', two 'c', many of the 'd' and a real mishmash
of all the others.

And a few that weren't mentioned.

21. Bob & Ray crossed with Lenny Bruce
I've always considered them to be the "full comedy spectrum."

Bob & Ray had a "kind and gentle" veneer, but underneath it was a keen, sharp wit...the "kitten with claws" principle.

Lenny...what the hell can you say about Lenny? Without Lenny Bruce, there would have been NO George Carlin (well, at least not the George Carlin who matured past traditional stand-up comedy bits like "Al Sleet, The Hippy Dippy Weatherman"), NO Richard Pryor, NO Eddie Murphy, NO Chris Rock...

With Lenny, you got the claws first...but when you heard his bits, like the infamous "N-word rant," and you realized that the punchline was that he wanted the word said so many times that it lost all meaning, all power to hurt, the ability to make a little African-American kid cry when someone CALLS him or her that...

...then we get a generation of rap "geniuses" whose rationale for using the word 2000 times in a song is the same as Lenny's. He did it first. He did it better.

Like I said, the full comedy spectrum, Yin and Yang, 360 degrees. Amused and pissed off all at the same time. Neither numb nor comfortable.

:toast:

22. Dry and observational, I guess.
I don't see myself as very funny.

My favorite comedians are people like George Carlin and Richard Pryon. They're funny, but also smart and observant. I don't care for comedy that's just silly, slapstick stuff. There has to be a serious subtext.
