Awaiting decision by potential employer. Should I call?

I am currently employed but want to leave for various reasons. I had an interview with a company that went decently. They sent me to another company, who they work with, for my second interview. The person atr my second interview said that a decision would be made by the end of the next week. Tomorrow is the Monday after they were supposed to decide. I haven't heard from them. Should I call Monday morning?
At this point, I am thinking that I did not get the job, but I would like to know. A friend also suggested that sometimes if they are deciding between a couple of people, they will pick the person who shows initiative and enthusiasm by calling. I don't want to seem too pushy or desperate to leave my current company.
