Poll question: What is this recreational vehicle called in your area (if you have them)?

Here it's a snowmobile but hubby's cousins in Quebec call them a Ski-doo.

1. Snowmachine...
If somebody calls one of those a snowmobile up here, we KNOW they're from somewhere else. :)

3. I thought it was funny
When Sarah Palin corrected someone who called it a snowmobile,
as if the word snowmobile was completely made up and not just another name for a "snow MAH-sheen."

We call it snowmobile.

5. I don't know for sure, but

I think people from every state except Alaska call it a snowmobile, but that word just sounds so foreign and somehow "prissy" to me. I've been living here since 1975, and I've never heard this vehicle called anything BUT a snowmachine by Alaskans.

Sarah didn't need to make a big deal about it, though. She tries so hard to portray herself as this great "Alaskan," but she's proved over and over within the past year that she's not really one of us.

Speaking of Ms. Thang, she's finally come back here for a book signing, but she's only appearing at Elmendorf AFB and Eielson up in Fairbanks, and the general public isn't invited. I guess she's afraid to face her former constituents whom she was supposedly defending like a mama grizzly defends her cubs. What a crock...

7. I hear "sled" a lot these days in New England
It may only refer to the stooopid fast ones some of my wacko buddies play with, as in "I've got my new sled piped and studded, but I still gotta get the clutch right - it only went 90 mph on the lake last week."

13. Snowmobile here in Wisconsin.
In winter, It's a common sight to see a snowmobile pull up next to you at a gas station.

Hell, back in high school, a number of my friends rode their snowmobiles to school in winter.
