Anyone familiar with Bing Cashback? |
|
Someone brought to my attention the Microsoft Bing Cashback program, where if you search for an item on Bing, and a participating seller comes up in the search, there's a little gold coin icon, and if you follow that and make certain purchases in a timely manner (like an eBay "Buy it Now" within 60 minutes) you get a substantial percentage "refunded" to you through your Bing Cashback account.
The person telling me this is trying to convince me that Microsoft and eBay (in this instance) actually pick up the cost of the Cashback reward, so that if I list an item at full price, he can search for it, "Buy it now" and get this big cashback bonus, while I just pay the usual eBay listing fees.
Anyone know anything about this? Sounds a lot like the old "forward this e-mail and Bill Gates will send you and all your friends to Disneyland" hoax, and I've heard a lot of sketchy things about Bing as far as malicious cookies and privacy problems.
Any insights into this would be much appreciated.
