Do YOU like math? Do YOU like writing programs to solve math problems? |
|
Then high-tail it over to Project Euler and see how many problems you can solve! Fun for everyone! (Except LynneSin--no fun for her.)

I have about as much chance as solving one of those problems as being invited to play the trombone in public...;)

I don't know what the fuck a muncannon is, but if it is related to a bagpipe or accordion, I'll pass.

Symarip's term for a trombone..which he plays....I never heard the term before he started posting here...Thats why I made the reference cause I saw his band play live the other night and there's no way I could do that (Dr. Strange is well aware of that)

12. I used to play Tuba. I still have my Dennis Wick mouthpiece. |
|

It was a brand new 4 valve rotary Minel Wesson (sp?) and damn did it have a fine tone. My main axe is sax, but the band needed a Tuba and there were a lot of younger sax players so I went with it. I scored top marks at solo and ensemble festival both for a solo and as part of the brass quintet. That was four months after taking it up. I haven't touched one since 1981 and curiously I still want another tuba.
On Edit:
My youngest daughter (14) is playing my 1976 Selmer Signet alto sax now. That thing still sings.

13. I've solved 14 so far this morning. |
|
But I'm using MAPLE, so I'm almost cheating.
Although I just solved problem 9 using just some number theory and my calculator--no programming needed. Uh-oh, I feel another geekgasm coming on.

Admittedly, I am no computer programmer. I like math and all, and I can write formulas in Excel with the best of them, but this is a bit much for me. I'll leave you to enjoy your geekgasm by yourself, bro. :hi:

28. Face it. The phrase "laugh out loud" has lost a lot of its panache lately. |
|
And it is true that I had to google the word "panache" both for its spelling and its context. I found out that the world literally meant "plume" in French, and dates back to the age of King Henry the IV, who would wear a white plume in his hat and shout out, "Follow my white plume!". And indeed, his men did follow his white plume.
And thus, I learned that Wikipedia is a great asset to us all, and without it, we'd be arms deep within the Oxford English Dictionary, trying to find out the meaning of the word "panache."
So basically, what I was saying, is that your comment made me literally laugh out loud. Yeah......
