What kind of a prick does this?
DALLAS — When is the largest bear killed in Pennsylvania’s bear season not the largest bear harvested? When it is the largest bear killed over bait, which equals poaching.

That’s what happened when Charles W. Olsen Jr., of Wilkes-Barre, Luzerne County, decided that it’d be easier to kill a bear over a pile of pastries, rather than the method used by ethical hunters.

Pennsylvania Game Commission Wildlife Conservation Officer Cory Bentzoni became suspicious when he saw a truck loaded with pastries from a local store driving along state Route 309 in Dallas, Luzerne County. “Something just didn’t seem right.”

He throws out a pile of donuts and shoots the bear when he comes to eat them.

Fucking weasel.

1. Hunting for sport instead of survival is just generally a prick move.
If you want REAL hunting and want to "prove your manhood", hunt something that shoots back.

Oh, but that wouldn't be any fun anymore, would it?

5. You're not wrong.
I say we find that "big manly hunter" glue donuts all over his worthless ass, then tie him to a tree in bear country.

7. Maybe I'm stretching the matter out of proportion
but to me it's similar to premeditated murder. The bear, unless he decided to forgo a tasty meal (and typically bears don't do that), really had no chance. That's just sickening.

9. It's not murder but it's callous, craven and cowardly.
There's a bear that keeps coming around to my garbage but I'm not leaving out a Twinkie so I can shoot him.

14. No, it's not murder, I agree
That would apply to humans. To me it's similar to murder though. The bear was doomed from the moment the guy set up his trap.

Sort of reminds me of Palin and her aerial shooting sprees. Those animals stand little chance of escape, and IMO that's not hunting. It's a lethal ambush.

8. I support the right to arm bears.
How much you want to bet that the "hunter" would fall for the very same bait?

13. We had a similar situation near Harrisburg.
The guy was baiting a bear in a neighborhood. He was camped out in camouflage in a camouflage tent just a few feet from the 150' buffer to residential housing. They cited him $75 for "not enough orange" and $300 for baiting. Asshole.
