So how does an entire topic disappear, anyways?
I went to read a reply to a response and got a message saying the topic was gone. Never had that happen before. Are the mods witches or sumpin?

1. That thread might've gotten locked.
Been happening a bit around here lately.

2. Do locked topics get disappeared eventually?
I've seen plenty of them, seems like. This one seemed pretty innocuous to start. I'd love to know how it went south!

3. I think they stick around for a bit, till they sink.
But when you try a response to them is when they seem disappeared.

Only my humble guess though.

4. there seem to be 2 types
locked threads and removed threads, they are qualitatively different, from what I can tell.

5. There was a brand name involved.
Perhaps legal action was threatened. That company must have a shitload of lawyers, though.

6. Oh thanks. That makes sense.
Man, what does someone have to do to get one removed? Must be bad. Come to think of it, I have seen some 'removed' ones from time to time. Love to rummage through that dumpster one day. Probably some real gems in there.

7. sometimes they get moved
if a mod thinks a topic belongs elsewhere they do tend to move them i believe.
ie
if a post is of local interest mostly it might be moved from gd to perhaps the states

9. If it was moved, the linkies should move with it, I think.
This message was:

I'm more interested in the generalities than the specific topic, which is why I'm posting instead of asking the admins.

8. The mods can either
lock a thread or completely delete it. The latter usually occurs with more inflammatory subject matter.
