1. My jewish wife solved that problem by marrying me - we are lighting the
candles this week, going to her cousin's for home made lattkes next Sunday, then have presents and a fancy dinner on christmas.

Party all the time.
(Might just sleep through New Year's Eve, though.)

24. Most of the "things to do" like stores, restaurants, museums, etc. aren't closed for Chanukah.
It's more challenging on Christmas Day. Movie houses and Chinese restaurants have been the fall back "tradition" for some Jewish families for decades.

3. I was in New York City one time.
This was Christmas of 2003.

I figured out what to do on Christmas in New York City when everything is closed!

Go to the Jewish Museum and stand in line with the rest of the immediate world!!

It was fun! I love their bookstore.

10. That's in Deuteronomy somewhere, isn't it?
You'd think it would have to be scriptural, it's such a widespread practice amongst the Jews I know.

8. I remember there was a controversy, a few years ago,
when SNL did a music video called "Christmas for the Jews," with stop-motion animation directed by Robert Smigel with a vocal by Darlene Love. I recall that the Jewish community was sharply divided over it, some were offended by it while others loved it.

9. Well I can see why some would be offended by that, in that they
got Darlene Love to sing it, when it would have sounded much better if Ronnie Spector sang it.
Happy xmas.

11. Remember Jesus was a Jew
whose Hebrew name was Joshua (English translation), and he was born to a Jewish mother named Miriam.

That's what Lou Holtz told Ron Paulus (a Jewish quarterback) when he was at Notre Dame.

13. In San Francisco it's Kung Pao Kosher Comedy time!
I took my father (the Rabbi's grandson) to a show the Xmas after my shiksa mom died--her birthday was actually on December 25, so our family was never at wit's end for that day. Anyway, if Bay Area-ites wanna go, here's the link

My Christian girlfriend , and several other goyim friends went with us. A good flick to get you into that holiday spirit, but I guess I'm just sentimental that way.

23. I'll probably have to entertain myself this xmas, so movies sound good
But a friend in Chicago who is Jewish celebrates "Hamana Schmaka" (I made up the spelling), the first word of which is what the front of house person at the Chinese restaurant says when they walk in, ("how many (in your party?)") and the second word he threw in just because it sounds Hebrew.
