Dear NBC, I can't stand that character for a five minute sketch; what makes you think I want to watch for two hours?

1. Two hours of that crap???

What in the world makes them think it deserved to be a regular skit??? The first time I saw it, it just wasn't funny, and IT WOULDN'T STOP! It went on and on!

Stuff like this makes me look at the guide and say "hm, what's on, oh look SNL...let's see if it's worth watching....who the hell is the host? The musical guest is...who? Keep clicking."

See, this is what happens when the writers/cast don't take drugs.

2. It's the same trap Family Guy falls into at times

Repeating a joke over and over and over and over... just to fill time.

Unfortunately, tonight they've got a lot of time to fill.

They can't be dedicating two hours to Gilly.

7. What was that character?

I haven't watched regular SNL in ages, but we tuned in for this special, hoping to see favorites from the past. Is this Gilly creature some new character? If so, then it justifies my not wasting my time watching it. Those segments were unfunny in the extreme.

Now, Alec Baldwin's introduction of the "Schwetty Balls" piece, that was some fun original material.

another favorite was 'Santi Wrap' a toilet seat-like protection for Santa's lap because "you never know where he's been sleeping!". :D

16. They skipped that one

They overlooked a LOT of great old ones - or shortchanged them. They played 15 seconds of Eddie Murphy's 'Mr. Robinson's Neighborhood', where he is working as a Santa, and comes home to an eviction notice. Then they cut to a commericial.

Lorne Michaels sucks more and more every year.

9. i only watched the first half hour or so (we taped it to watch later)

and we did see a very funny alec baldwin as an elf skit, adam sandlers hanuka (sp) song (still funny after all these years), and steve martins what i want for christmas skit.

and yes mercifully, only short spurts of gilly

12. A painfully unfunny character/skit series

It ate up time which could have been devoted to two SNL xmas skits notably MIA last night - "Hanukkah Harry Saves Christmas" and "Church Chat" with Danny DeVito. Fuck you Lorne Michaels - you're irrelevant and just don't give a shit anymore, do you?
