1. Ah, the rebirth of a lunar cycle.
I didn't know we were starting a new one. Been so cloudy in Florida, threw me out of my game. I've heard new moons are good to set your intentions and do some planning for the next short term at least.

So thanks for the reminder. And thanks for the pictures, CaliforniaPeggy.

And all the best to you during the coming holiday season.

Cheers!

3. My dear kayakjohnny!
Yeah, it's been so cloudy here, I didn't know where we were in the cycle either. I was very pleasantly surprised to see that beautiful crescent moon.

I had never heard about this being a good time for setting my intentions; thanks for telling me!

It's always my pleasure to show you what I've managed to capture...

All the best to you as well!

Cheers, indeed!

I am so sorry to hear about the snow!

None of that here...

You're all clouded in, I suspect.

Thanks for coming by!

Please take care, and stay safe, OK?

Just beautiful, how it peeks through the trees!

And of course, there's a tad bit of light left from the sun!

35. Toyota. At the corner of 190th & Western Toyota (a car company)
has a facility. In fact it is Toyota North America and Toyota R&D. A huge facility. If you come off the 405 at Western, to head south, you will see it.
On that building, they have a sign. The sign, in huge red, illuminated letters, reads, lo and behold, TOYOTA.
At this time of year, they also put up a huge "Seasons Greetings" there. (Not up yet).
However, the TOY part of their sign was not functioning. Thus it said (read) OTA. And your sliver of moon appeared just over and behind it.
That sliver of moon is significant to Jews and Moslems. And I suppose Chinese and many others, what use a lunar calendar.
Merry Holidays.

32. Lovely photos, I love the color variations in the first one.
And great framing within framing!

I was out too, since it was the first clear night we've had in a while. I almost took a mate to yours, with it looking through palm fronds, but decided against it and just packed everything up for the scooter ride back home :) Surprising how much lower it was when I was leaving, now that I think about it, when I look at my first picture.

Since you say you like crescent moons, here are some small views of the what it looked like in Corpus Christi, you can click on them if you want to see the full-size ones. I was playing with some old legacy lenses, so the first one is at 28mm and the second at 600mm (on my 4/3, that would be 56mm and 1200mm equiv).

WOW. I did click, and I have to say that these are just wonderful. The crescent moon is certainly my favorite shape, next to the full moon...

The level of detail on your crescent by itself is amazing. It does not look even a tiny bit blurry to me, and my old eyes, lol!

Thank you so much for sharing these...

is obvious at the large and original sizes. I'll just have to keep practicing!

I love the first one, all the textures are there that make it so gorgeous - the color of the setting sun, the sharp perfection of the crescent, the brushy tree limbs, the layers of the clouds - just lovely. Here where we're getting so much snow, I really miss the moon!

I overexposed this one, so I will have to dig into the manual settings a bit more. And set the camera on a sandbag instead of a tripod or my hands resting on a wall. ;)

I heard it from my mother when we'd sit on the porch and look at the evening sky. She probably heard it from her father who knew the night sky very well.
