Stevie Ray Vaughan - Tin Pan Alley

I was listening to Stevie Ray back in 1984-85... back before anyone really knew who he was... my friend Greg was playing "Cold Shot" on an acoustical guitar and turned me on to the "Couldn't Stand The Weather" album...

For an added bonus, here is "The Things (That) I Used To Do"

1. I remember the first time I heard "Texas Flood".
Walked into a record store in Pismo Beach. They had it playing on the house system. I walked up to the guy behind the counter and asked who the hell that was playing. He handed me the album and i bought it on the spot and rushed home to play the whole thing. Wore out two of those LPs before it came out on CD. This album was instrumental in sending me on a life long love for the Blues.

Blues is a funny genre. It never really goes out of style, it just gets forgotten sometimes. SRV brought it back into the forefront in the 80s. Man I miss him. RIP Stevie.

2. Yes, SRV brought the blues back to the mainstream music scene like no one else has..
he stood above the rest in the days of the "hair bands" and the beginning of the "gangsta rap" culture...

Have you ever heard of a band called King Johnson? Chris Long and Oliver Wood are old friends of mine, but I haven't seen them since I left Douglasville Ga 8 years ago. The play Blues/Jazz/Adult Contemporary genre... take a listen here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Al2_DnWC3EE&feature=related

They were voted "Best Blues Band In Atlanta" by Creative Loafing Magazine for 6 years running.... I bought their "Cats & Dogs" CD when Chris was still selling it out of the trunk of his car and they were the house band at "Roosters" in Douglasville...

Peace,

Ghost
