That brightened my day a little. Seriously though, the movie did not impress me. All FX and no originality.

2. I think they look more like Smurfs.
South Park already spoofed it weeks ago kinda during their Glenn Beck spoof episode.

Dances With Smurfs!

5. That last picture should be James Cameron lighting cigars with $100 bills
And using $20's to wipe his butt.

7. I agree. The movie was not that great.
I do not understand what all the hype was about. Oohing and aahing over special effects, probably.

8. Pretty much.
I do think it's impressive on the FX front but the story-Jesus, doesn't anyone in Hollywood believe in subtlety or original plots anymore?

9. Was it that bad?
A conservative friend of mine said the movie was pretty hamfisted with the "liberal" politics. Is that true?

13. It tries to carry a liberal message, but in a preachy and stupid fashion.
As another DUer said, it's like "Dances with Wolves" in space.

Except Dances with Wolves had a way better plot and dialogue.

Some parts of this movie are just not believable at all.

15. They do hit you over the head with it.
I believe in what they're trying to say but...the plot and characters are sub-standard.

It's a visual treat but not one for the mind or for those who enjoy intelligent scripts.

16. I don't think it was bad, it just wasn't original. It kinda reminded me of FernGully

The visual effects were amazing (except when the creatures were standing right next to people) and the action sequence at the end was awesome. But the actual story is a story that has been told many many many times before. There isn't a single surprise in the movie or event that you don't see coming because you've seen it all before.

I didn't find it terrible (like 2012 for example) but, it was just OK.

10. But I heard that it was the most bestest movie ever in the history of movies ever!
Was I misled?

14. You were terribly misled. I recommend against wasting your money.
I saw a free midnight screening because my friend works at the movie theater.

Sam Worthington is a really horrible actor. Many plot points of the movie are just not believable, some of the dialogue is atrocious, and the message conveyed in the movie is heavy-handed and preachy.

I will give them this, though - the CGI effects looked great. But that's not enough to carry a weak movie.

17. Sam Worthington kept slipping back into his Australian accent

It reminded me of that Simpsons episode where they were trying to teach Ranier Wolfcastle to say "Up and Atom" and he kept saying "Up and At Them"

11. Crap. That was way too fast.
Didn't even get the popcorn made, and it was over.

Better than Titanic, though. I had time to GROW the popcorn by the time that damn ship sank.
