Things to do in Dinwiddie, VA, when I-95 is closed.
1. Post on DU.
2. That's about it.

I'm supposed to be in Bedford, PA tomorrow at 1600, but things don't look too promising right now.

I-95 is closed just north of Richmond, and just south of DC tonight, and until it stops snowing Virginia will not be able to get a handle on snow removal.

I really want to get home. After tomorrow's drop, I'm deadheading to the house and will be home until the Wednesday after Christmas.

The last two weeks have been sheer hell, for reasons that I won't bore you kind people with, and I just want to see my kids.

Rats.

2. Thanks.
I don't mind driving in the bad weather, snow doesn't bother me too much, I just slow down.

Other drivers driving like their hair is in fire scare the hell out of me.

Coming into Charlotte this AM across I-85 every bridge was coated with ice, and do you think the people would slow down? A little?

Every single bridge had a spun-out car that hit the guard rail.

Every single one.

I lost count after thirty smashed-up cars.

4. I've seen them freak out in heavy rain, let alone ice.
Houston is home to some of the absolute worst drivers I have ever seen.

They drive like they're mad at their cars, and are intent on smashing them.

Atlanta is a close second.

5. The Greater Dinwiddie Metropolitan Area has its charms, but a hot time on a snowy
night is not among them.

6. Well, I took in the art museum before it closed.
However, I was told this evening's rendition of Der Rosenkavalier at the Dinwiddie Opera House was postponed due to the weather.

Oh well.

I will get to visit the Cathedral in the morning, if I'm still stuck here.

10. Is it true that Jack Daniels sponsors one of the pavilions at DisneyDinwiddie?
I'd kinda like to see the War Of Northern Aggression pavilion that the True Sons Of The Confederacy sponsors.

That would be a real hoot.

11. No, but there is a walking, talking, mechanical Stonewall Jackson diarama thingie
in which he boasts that he died at 33 "same age as Jesus died."

I hear it's astonishingly lifelike.

13. Waaaay overblown. Not actually as advertised.
It's just his arm.

Kinda waves around aimlessly, not really very interesting.

Creeped me right the fuck out.

9. If you think I'm going to trudge through the snow and dark to see an empty field,
you may as well send me on a snipe hunt.

You really got to try harder, like I've never heard THAT one before.
