31. Hey, it's just an opinion.
I'm with you on the first 2. Sam could be obnoxious, drunk, or effing brilliant - and mere mention of his name drives Mormons and Witnesses from my door. The 3 "real" blue collar guys are funny as hell - maybe you have to live in the Blue Collar world to get it.
Dan Whitney (aka Larry the Cable Guy) is running low on charm - mostly because the funnier aspects of his persona conflict with his politics.

22. Well I'm glad he cant get work now.
I found clips on youtube where Joe Rogan and his other comedian friends go to one of Mencias shows and basically call him out on being a hack. Joe brings up all these comedians that Carlos stole from and they call call him a theif lol. Even Carlos' buddy Bobby Lee calls him a thief haha.

Then later on theres a radio show clip where George Lopez says he punched Carlos in the face for stealing his material.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5gVYfDCgYxk
Its a long clip but its pretty funny. They turn the crowd on Carlos lol.

34. I saw Gallagher a year ago ...

My mom loves him, and I did too when I was a kid, so I took her to see him.

It was a weird night.

It was difficult for me to reconcile the image I saw before me with the huge HBO specials and what have you of what now seems to be a former life. Personally, I thought his performance was hilarious. The audience apparently agreed. People laughed so hard they fell out of chairs ... tears streaming, red faces, the kind of unrestrained laughter that causes people to make completely embarrassing noises.

He was very, very good. And the "I smash fruit" bit was a very small part of it.

But there were, maybe, 50 people in the audience. He came out after the show and just sat and talked with some of us. I mean, I sat there and had a conversation with Gallagher while he flirted with my mom.

He's a smart guy, funny ... he's got some xenophobia in him. And, I think he took himself too seriously when he was at his peak, forgetting that he was, after all, just a comedian. He actually did run for President, and it wasn't, in his mind, a gimmick.

Anyway ...

36. There are none. I used to hang at the comedy clubs years ago...
and met a lot of comics before they became famous. And more who never made it.

Man, I gotta tell ya that's the hardest and most incredibly depressing life imaginable in show business. Standup comics are the only performers who never get a pass. No polite applause on an off night or for bad material-- just silence. And then you gotta start all over from scratch figgering out what went wrong. Singers, dancers, actors... all can get some kind of feedback or a standard to live up to, but the comic's feedback is just silence and blank stares.

There are comics I don't think are funny, and there are some I just don't like for one reason or another, but I just can't see any point in trashing them.

64. Imagine being a karaoke dj...
If you're doing a good job, people only notice your mistakes. Either you're making everything sound perfect; or you're stuck with a singer that couldn't carry a tune if it was stuck to his back, and couldn't keep time if he had a clock shoved in his head. If you make everything sound perfect, nobody notices the quality of your work, if you're stuck in one of those no win scenarios, then it's always your fault that the singer sucked; whether or not it's honestly your fault. On top of that, if you actually care about avoiding dead air, then you have to be capable of improving some comedy. We are the Last DJ's...

Except for his baseball vs. football bit. That was hilarious.

I'd also say Dennis Leary. Throwing a bunch of f-bombs around in an angry just doesn't do it for me.

Ralphie May--we get it, you are fat and you like to smoke pot.

Thankfully, I don't think Pablo Francisco has quite the name recognition to become famous, but if he ever does--him. Good lord he sucks.

Most of the current SNL cast - the skits always go on three times as long as they should. They should look at old SNL skits to see why they were funny. Tina Fey was the only truly funny person on there in years. JMO.
