normally $999.

Sorry Satan, and why did you make your name as a lame, lazy anagram of "Santa" to begin with?

Edit: Effin' typo

2. Do you have ANY idea how many people could be fed with $599?
Sure, sell your soul. Go with "MasterCard Satan" and get the TV. You'll never be haunted by the screams of millions of hungry children while you watch it. Nothing to worry about. Merry Christmas!

Or was that over the top?

3. Not at all.

Given the abuse I endured as a child, it's amazing I haven't turned into the stereotype nasty that makes the "Lifetime Channel(tm) movie of the week"(tm).

Was that over the top?
:D

4. I honestly don't know. I don't get cable and have no idea what that channel is.

5. I've only heard of it by repute.
I couldn't care less for cable.

6. Since I got my first apartment in '82, I've had cable for less than 9 months.
We only got it because my youngest was in kindergarten and Mr. Rogers, Reading Rainbow, and Bear in the Big Blue House were on while she was home. That's all we used it for and we canceled it as soon as the school year was over.

7. Which TV? I bought a very nice 32" Samsung at Costco that I'm thrilled with
Edited on Sun Dec-20-09 02:23 PM by TommyO
It was only $379, though that was a three-day deal right after Thanksgiving, the same TV is still under $500 there.

Added: Just checked, it's $449 at Costco online right now: http://www.costco.com/Browse/Product.aspx?Prodid=11472481&whse=BC&Ne=4000000&eCat=BC|79|2341|74672&N=4041016&Mo=25&pos=3&No=14&Nr=P_CatalogName:BC&cat=74672&Ns=P_Price|1||P_SignDesc1〈=en-US&Sp=C&ec=BC-EC34411-Cat2341&topnav=

8. I love my movies and just got a sweet new 50" plasma w/Blu-Ray player
for about a grand.

I've been spoiled and had to "suffer" with a 30" TV for the last year. No more!

I shall now bow down and pay homage to the gods of materialism.

9. Given your $1000 price, I'm guessing it's a 720p
I saw the 50" Panasonic 720p TV, it's impressive, as long as you're not too close to the TV. You did good!

10. 1080p! Saw a sweet deal on Amazon. Had to wait 4 weeks but it was worth it.

11. OOOH, very nice!
Revel in your materialism. The 50" 1080p plasma is great eye candy, and at the price you paid, irresistable.

Unfortunately 50" is too big for me, 42" is the perfect size for my living room, 32" for my bedroom, and that's what I have.

13. If I'd had the money, I'd have gone 58" or even 65"
Edited on Mon Dec-21-09 08:33 AM by Roland99
The resolution is just astounding. I've had an HDTV since 2001 and I've been blown away by how great this looks over regular HD...even regular 1080i programming looks much better.

I'll move this to a bedroom later next year and get that bigger one for the living room then.

My one weakness...my love of movies and the gadgets I buy to watch them. :)

15. Having just watched WALL-E, twice in two days, and tearing up at the ending both times
I know what you mean about the love of movies.
