The mother of all Christmas peeves: gift wrapping! |
|
I've had it! From now on everybody gets their Xmas gift in store boxes with some ribbons wrapped around them. The paper is either too lightweight or too heavy and the creases break.
The paper I cut for the present is NEVER the right size. It's either bunched up on either end or the paper was just too short to fully cover the side. Even if the sides are good, folding them up result wrinkled paper or big fat wads.
Also, how do you cut a straight edge when you have a large piece of wrapping papeer to begin with? (I've tried cutting it on the side of a table, grr...)
Storing paper takes up precious space and gets messy. Out it goes..
At wit's end at long last...need a glass of Prosecco and a cool cloth for my forehead...

2. I do those, too, but some of these boxes are just too big... |
|
I wonder if I'm the last person on earth to wrap presents (except for professional wrappers in stores)...

I can try and wrap which is always good for a laugh from the recipient. I do gift bags anymore.

14. Don't worry about being perfect |
|
I place the gift on the paper and bring it around the gift so I know how much to cut. I never cut completely straight but I make sure to keep the straighter edge on the outside. I just don't worry about making it look perfect because that will take the fun out of it for me. I'm sure nobody will notice the imperfections as they open the gifts. :)

9. So you do not have the wrapping paper thing that I have encountered. |
|
That flappy, wispy, elusive stuff to put around a book...oh, god...
It is just too much. It doesn't work for most people...let's let it go...

15. I've gotten rid of that peeve (with which I agree!) |
|
by separating from husband who insisted on buying 50 or so gifts for our daughters so under the tree could look spectacular. Heck with him! The tree itself looked spectacular! (Came from same 'farm' as did Obamas tree this year!)

16. I'm really good at gift wrapping. |
|
My Mom taught me how when I was a kid and it just stuck. It's like my fingers know what to do without my even having to think about it. I wish I could help you with yours but I can't really tell you how to do it, I'd have to show you.

17. I think it's hereditary... |
|
my sister wraps beautifully. She finds it easy and fun. Me? I NEED gift bags or totally square boxes and even then, it's a challenge. I did not get the gift wrap gene!
I can't fold a fitted sheet either! ha

|
I hate doing those!!haha. But yeah, wrapping is fun for me, like art almost, but I use bags too. I like mixing bags and boxes under the tree- they're both cute! :)
