I was just looking through the archives for some of my past poetry work...I'm trying to get together enough to chapbook...and I found my 2009 resolutions posted almost a year ago today. So I wanted to share how I did and see if anybody else had any successes this year.
http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_mesg&forum=105&topic_id=8363836&mesg_id=8363963The 2008 List:1.) Move to NYC and work as a PA without starving to death. √,
I subsequently quit because it was by-far the worst job I've ever had, but I did it.2.) Make my novel and screenplay both come together cohesively. X
3.) Blog at-least thrice weekly. X
4.) Get back on the metaphorical horse qua dating. X,
not for lack of effort but lack of funds.5.) Complete at least these 8 items off my life-list:
* a.) Have a personal essay published on Nerve.com. X,
No longer on the lifelist.* b.) Pose nude for a famous photographer. √
* c.) Drink a $500 scotch, neat. √
* d.) Bare-knuckles box against (a certain friend) to KO. (He's now my boss. He can't wait...his SO is not as anticipatory.)
Kinda √. I did punch him out for grafting me on the rent.* e.) Read from a book more than 500 years old. X,
I can really do this one any time I'd like...I just have to make the trip back to CUA campus as I have a researcher's clearance to the Oliviera Lima library collections of ancient Catholic church artifacts.* f.) Finish Sexual Personae by Camille Paglia. X,
this book is my nemesis. Clear and simple, it's just too dense and I have to keep stopping to read the source materials again.* g.) Shake hands with a current President. X,
waiting again on a new president. I'm disappointed to have worked on his campaign.* h.) Make-out with a Hollywood starlet.
Has there ever been a more childish and pathetic life-list item?? Really? I'm embarrassed for this. Oh yeah, √√ :*
6.) Finish either my novel or my screenplay. X,
I am compiling my poetry into a book-submission so perhaps that counts? :shrug:
7.) Pursue training for a supplementary career. (I'm contemplating shibari-instructor/pro-dom. Alternately, something more normal.) √.
I took development coursework and training in sales and banking.8.) Read a poem at a poetry-reading. X,
I really don't think I like reading outloud. I write for the page, honestly.9.) Go a full year without ending-up living on my mom's couch. √
10.) Volunteer-service more frequently. √
Anybody else?
