How do I respond to that response?

Do I have to PM the OP and ask him/her if it is OK if I respond?

Does the OP have to give me a password to use to respond to a response that was posted in the OP's original post?

I think that my DU experience would be greatly enhanced if I knew this.

If I knew that after being here as long as I have I'd respond more and maybe initiate more posts. When I first started I did the classic what does n/t mean and what is k&r. I had a very sarcastic bent with all my stored up angst over the Bushites. I'm sure I came off as a troll which I didn't even know what one was back then.

I still feel like I got off on the wrong foot here. If I do ever venture a post it falls off the page with out a response. So I just don't. It's weird to feel ignored by people you feel close to because you read what they post all the time.

Anyway back to when I first ventured into the lounge, there were the funniest group of friends who laughed and joked and tee-hee'ed with each other all the time. Almost manic with euphoria. I'd comment in the middle of the hilarity and be ignored. Of course, I was nothing to them but an interloper. I just felt like they didn't like me.

On the other hand, I think I may have posted in some of the 'swarm wars', prior to the 'ban', and didn't know where I was sticking my foot. I've always read with curiosity the, 'the lounge isn't the same any more because of the cliques', posts to see where I went wrong and try to fit in some where.

And you are correct about all the 'PM'ing', to see what's up and to pal-up, with yer buds to know where to respond. Those of us on the outer circles of hell have no clue about the 'shadow-government', friendships that are sacred and long established, and where we don't fit in. Nothing wrong with that except some of us will never be a part of that. It's a quality I'm sure that needs to be nurtured and cultivated and I don't have what it takes to make a friend here.

So, go on about your fun with all your best friends, and ignore all the interloper duds who show up from time to time to stick a toe in the water and check the temperature.

I'd like to make a few comments about your well thought out post.

First of all, if you do read the lounge on a regular basis, you will know that I usually post total horse shit. In fact, I post so much horse shit, that I have to come out and say when I am making a serious comment. As such, this OP here is total horse shit.

It might surprise you to know that I have very few "friends" here...in fact, more people have me on ignore than are friendly with me. Also, I PM with very few people. I PM with one person on a regular basis, and only a few other people sporadically.

Your comment about stepping unknowingly into a "swarm war" is well taken...and that was the problem with this type of thing. A thread would be started with the intent of inflicting pain on another lounger, and an innocent bystander would step in and get creamed or ignored.

In my opinion, the lounge has changed for the better. You of course will still see the "I miss the old days" posts, but you will also notice the following: Names are posting these days that you literally never saw before, perhaps because they were afraid of stepping into a war.

I like the lounge...I try my best to stick to the rules, even though I don't always succeed.

Trust me on this...better to be in your position than to be talked about on Facebook and Twitter, like myself and several other people here are.

My advice to you would be to post what you want, when you want. If someone does not like it, too bad. If someone gives you shit, either alert or give them equal shit back.

Hold your ground, and don't be intimidated. Don't try to make friends, as your future friends will come to you.

I know I was singing sour grapes. I have thin skin and I want people to like me. I think my online personality does not translate into a likable character. In real life I have an incredible group of close friends.

I thought making lounge buds was going to be as easy. I can't even get Deja Q to speak to me. I'm pretty sure he just thinks a 50+ year old lady was hot for him so I scared him. Never comments back to me. Maybe I'm on his ignore list?

Each time new admins are announced, a new treasurer is also appointed to handle the funds from the non-OP posts, which are eventually used to help clean the Lounge after food fights. I am currently the treasurer.
