3. I thought it was a pretty good movie until the very end.
The "plastic ashtray" space ship thing was a little silly, and nobody coming up from that depth so quickly would be able to just walk out like nothing happened. I think they seriously fucked that up.

4. Well, at least they explicity commented on the pressure-change thing
The implication was that the folks from the ashtray had somehow magically fixed the pressure differential.

But it's indeed weird how the "alien" underwater vehicles were made to look like the most diaphanous, luminous jellyfish until they came to the surface, whereupon they looked like waterpark rides.

9. No way. The spaceship has special qualities.
Like inertial dampeners on Star Trek, 'n shit.

14. Not to mention the BlueRay player
Not only did they have the player long before it was invented, they even had a BlueRay copy of Abyss before the movie was completed! They also had an '82 Yugo they used as an anchor.

7. That film would have been easy to save
Get rid of the "rig taken out by idiot SEAL lieutenant's moran actions" subplot, and all the space alien shit, plus the "endearingly loopy rig crew" bullshit, and that could have been a decent film. And what the fuck is this RAT doing there?

10. I actually liked it and watch it again from time to time.
The water alien was kind of cute, and I used it once in some imagery:
