Round 2 of Chemo is Wed. Finally |
|
insurance takes it sweet time
but at least I don't have to go in as an outpatient. I am going to the room where other people are having the same kinds of treatment
Granted, my round is not for cancer but for Crohn's it is still serious and still takes time.
I am going in with a positive attitude and just know it will work!

14. I have good hours and bad hours |
|
yesterday, we had Christmas with hubby's side of the family. His grandmother is 90 and in a nursing home. We all met there and had tacos (her favorite) and I only ate one small one and got so sick after that, I felt really bad. I had to throw up and so I left the family room and went to the public restroom but I guess there are no locks on the doors so residents can't lock themselves in. During my upchucking the door opened and some lady was like "oh my god" and ran and found a nurse. GEEZ I was greatly embarrassed. They went and found my husband and he was so good and gentle but also got everyone to leave and minimize the embarrassment.
Today hasn't been half bad, but I just ate a little cup of jello and some fruit.

15. I am sorry about the taco incident. But I am glad today was good and that hubby has been |
|
so good and supportive.
I got down to 74lbs when I had my 6 wk hospitalization with the ulcerative colitis. Granted I wasn't even quite 5' tall yet, but it was still a 25lb weight loss and pretty serious for an 11yo kid. I used to fantasize about being able to eat, or introducing other kids to my favorite foods and watching them eat. I was a week away from having my entire colon removed when the prednisone repaired me just enough so that they were willing to wait and see if things would improve further. Thank heavens they did!
I really, really, really, hope the chemo is _your_ magic med, and that the results kick in really soon.

17. I am down weight wise quite a bit. Doc is still threatening feeding tube |
|
but I have two different meds for nausea and they seem to be helping most of the time
Prednisone, dyclimine and asacol did not seem to help at all which is why we went to the chemo kind of therapy. There are pretty huge drawbacks tho.

18. Yeah, chemo can be pretty crappy. My MIL was on it for her pancreatic cancer. Glad the |
|
nausea meds are working at least. Feeling like you are on the verge of throwing up all the time is only worth it when you're preggers.

8. thank you all. I am a bit nervous. I hate IV sticks |
|
I am praying they have a great IV team like they did in the hospital.
once that IV is in, the rest should be gravy

10. How often do you have to go? |
|
I go under the same conditions and have to go every six months for Zemeda treatments. I do the IV thing also. My treatments are due to cancer and are for bone strengthening and to try to prevent bone cancer. There have also been test that show that this type of treatment helps prevent the reappearance of breast cancer. Time will tell. Good luck with your treatments and their side effects.

11. I think once the induction period is in I go every 8 weeks |
|
Good luck with your treatments also.
I thank God for the treatments, but there are times where I want to just say "why me" but that is few and far between, I just endure and try to move on

12. I am with you on the "why me" thing. |
|
Especially after one of my treatments and I spend days in extreme pain but each time the side effects lessen. My last treatment was on the 18th, my birthday, and today is my third day of said pain. Luckily my ZT are just every six months but I am still ready to quit if it were at all possible. This was my fourth one.
And yes, enduring and moving on are all part of the treatment plan. Hard to do sometimes but necessary.
