I have a little TV with an HDMI input, and I got to thinking that I could probably hook it up to my Mac as a second monitor. THEN I got to thinking that I had absolutely no idea what I would do with that extra space. So, do you have more than one monitor? If so, what do you use it for?

1. No, but I have 3 computers hooked to one monitor.
Along with 4 other computers-one hooked to my HDTV, the others on separate monitors and my then there's my laptop.

2. I used to, but it was for graphics and music programs
I could put my tools and palettes on one screen (the one with worse resolution) and the other I could then maximize the thing I was actually working on.

I've since stopped doing that as I'd rather have the desk real estate so I can have a bunch of junk scattered all over every flat surface....

3. I have two monitors running at the same resolution side by side
it works as an extra-long desktop. It's useful for keeping multiple browser windows open or general multi-tasking, especially for tasks where it is necessary to read and write at the same time.

4. Do you use Spaces? That's like having multiple monitors.
With two physical monitors you can do things like dragging something from one monitor over the boundary onto the other one. I do fine with one 19" on the Mac Mini. I got mine about a month before they changed it to have a second monitor connector but I don't really have room for one in my current setup. There's a tower of Seagate externals in the spot I would put it. I do have a second monitor behind my head, but it is hooked up to three PCs with a KVM switch and on a mobile computer workstation. This laptop is on the main desk area with the Mac monitor behind it on a riser.

5. I do. I'm a graphic designer and I work on a 15" MacBook Pro. It's difficult to
work with documents and lots of images on such a small screen, so I use my second monitor for the document and the laptop monitor for the program palettes. It works great.

6. Yes, for gaming and home theater, it's great.
Supreme Commander is awesome on two monitors and a lot of new and existing games are increasing their support for multiple displays. The new DX11 line of video cards from ATI has "Eyefinity" which allows for 3 simultaneous displays (so long as one of them uses a displayport input). My primary display is a 24" CRT monitor, but I also have my PC hooked to a 32" LCD HDTV. Most of the time the LCD goes unused, but occasionally I'll game on it and it's very convenient to just drag a movie onto the LCD when I want to kick back and watch a flick.

7. I do sometimes..
My only computer right now is my MacBook. When I'm not on the road, I plug in my flat screen display on my desk. I just use it for more screen real estate. I used to display photos on that, until I realized that the MacBook screen, while smaller, has a MUCH better picture quality.

8. I just hooked a second monitor up to my MacPro yesterday
It was the one that I used in the office, now that my services are no longer required there, the monitor came home. I'm using it for secondary browsing, iTunes, and miscellaneous little apps.

9. Monitor the help desk on one
I need to see when tickets come in. This way I don't have to keep switching to that app to see it. It's also a constant reminder of what I should be working on.

11. usually it's for the purpose of multi tabling poker games
pro poker players do this, the real nits can have 24 tables going at a time (4 games on 6 monitors)

i have 2 monitors and prefer to play between 1 and 4 games at a time, but i make my money live, the internet is just for study, and you're not studying and learning your opponents if you're playing 24 tables, you're just applying a system

even if you have just one game going, you could have yr table up on one screen and then answer yr email or whatever on the other screen while there's nothing going on

13. We have a laptop in our living room
that my husband has attached an additional flat panel monitor to. We use it as our TV.

He repairs computers and monitors, so one someone doesn't want to pay to have one repaired, he goes ahead and repairs it for our use when we need something.

15. I use my
Samsung 23" 2048X1152 as my main monitor. I have a LG 19" 1280X1024 that I use for iChat and downloads. It is nice that when chatting with someone, I can also surf the internet to find support for members of my family.
