that's the second time I've dreamed of a plane crash when there was a major plane crash.
A couple of decades ago I dreamed an airliner crashed into my apartment building directly into the apartment of my friend John (his real name--like it matters with that name). I was outside the apartment, saw the plane crash into it, and tried to run away, but the plane was going to fall on me. I tried to get out of the way, but the plane kept falling until I woke up in a panic.
That afternoon I took that same friend John to the DFW airport to catch a flight out. As I was leaving I got caught in a major thunderstorm, and the storm and the traffic trapped me in a turn lane I couldn't get out of. I kept trying to pull out, but couldn't. Just as I resigned myself to taking the alternate route, and at the last possible moment, a hole opened and I changed lanes onto the highway I wanted to take. Minutes later, wind sheers from the same thunder storm forced a jet to crash onto the highway I had just managed to escape, just about where I would have been if I'd stayed on the other highway.
I don't know the details of today's crash, except that thankfully there are no casualties, from all the reports. In my dream I was standing along a highway beside a beach and a plane crash landed onto the highway and broke apart, and the parts came at me as I ran away, until I woke up in a panic, to read a story that a plane had crash landed in Jamaica. The airport in Jamaica is along a highway and beach, but the plane in my dream was gray, not painted like American Airlines, and was smaller than a 737.
No, I don't think I'm psychic or anything. I've had dreams about plane crashes falling on me or chasing me ever since I was a kid, and usually no real plane crashes occur. It's my version of the falling dream, I think. When I was a kid a jetliner crashed in New Orleans into a neighborhood in Kennar, and I had relatives in Kennar, and remember being terrified of images of a plane falling on the houses of my relatives. I think that's when the dreams started. Plus, my father flew a few times, and I was always afraid his plane would crash.
It's just interesting that the details these two times had so much in common with actual plane crashes.
Sorry to bore everyone. It's not even a good story. I'm just trying to avoid some work I have to do before I go back to sleep. :)
