Well, my very old boy cat Tuna is passing tonight.
He is almost 25 years old, his health just recently went down.

Today he was walking in circles crying.

I took him to the vet, the old boy was having strokes.

He is resting in his bed, I don't think he will last the night.

Tuna is the last of the line of cats starting back to my first cat many years ago.

I knew the day was coming but it is never easy.

I fed him with a bottle, his mother was killed a few days after giving birth.

He helped raise two litters of kittens, he was a very sweet kitty.

I will miss him very much.

I will bury him in the yard in his favorite spot.

Have a good rest Tuna, you earned it.

He is mostly white with grey tabby color.
I named him Tuna because when he was very small he stoled a tuna sandwich off the table.

The name fit.

7. if that was how I were to have named my departed tuxedo cat, she'd have been "Cutlet"
when she was little she came into the living room dragging a chicken cutlet I'd left out on the kitchen table. She was so proud!

8. And I'd have had a gray tabby named Ham Sandwich.
As a kitten he took off with a sandwich bigger than his head.

42. I would have had a cat named Hard Roll
This cat jumped up on the table, grabbed a hard roll out of the bread basket, took it to the floor and ate it. From then on she got rolls every time we had them. If we'd heated them, she'd bat them between her paws until they were cool enough to eat.

And let's not talk about my cat Cantaloupe.

9. Can you do me a favor and consider telling Tuna he did a good job and his work is done?
For some reason I like to tell that to fur-babies when they pass. Don't want them feeling bad for leaving me behind.

12. He knows.
Poem For Cats

And God asked the feline spirit
Are you ready to come home?
Oh, yes, quite so, replied the precious soul
And, as a cat, you know I am most able
To decide anything for myself.

Are you coming then? asked God.
Soon, replied the whiskered angel
But I must come slowly
For my human friends are troubled
For you see, they need me, quite certainly.

But don't they understand? asked God
That you'll never leave them?
That your souls are intertwined. For all eternity?
That nothing is created or destroyed?
It just is....forever and ever and ever.

Eventually they will understand,
Replied the glorious cat
For I will whisper into their hearts
That I am always with them
I just am....forever and ever and ever.

15. I have.
The vet gave him something to sleep, he has been sleeping all day.

I wanted him to die a home.

His breathing is very slow now.

14. a toast to Tuna
love the name... one of my boys who passed a few years ago was nicknamed Tuna, so your subject line gave me a pang... he was also a bottle baby.

25 years is a good run.

Au revoir Tuna. Good boy.

and strength to you at the loss of such a great friend.

Good bye, friend <--- sweet little book I always recommend.

The love doesn't end when the vessel wears out. You will have a new guardian angle. You will miss his sound, smell, touch, but you will always have his love. Always.
