1. Santa left me a lump of coal. I forgot to set out cookies and milk.

Actually, my folks and I are celebrating on Sunday. It's the only time we can all get our schedules to fit. Dad's working today. Money's good I guess, but tallk about bah humbug.

2. I got a 2010-Page-a-Day Obama Sayings calendar....

From my mom.

I asked her, "Aren't we mad at him right now?"

My mom said, "We should still support him."

I think she's right.

3. I got a couple of books that I wanted:

Ted Kennedy's autobiography and Naomi Klein's first book, No Logo, 10 anniv. edition.
My brother sent me an Obama birthday card, too.

4. a delicate silver necklace with tiny peace signs - love it.

5. In 2000, I received an official "White House" Christmas Tree ornament, made of the same kind

of stone as the facade of the White House. I hung it on the tree that year, knowing already that the country was headed into some ugly times, the Supreme Court having elevated the Clown Prince to the Presidency only a few days before.

Every Christmas since, I hung that ornament on our tree feeling a sense of distaste that our venerable house of the President had been dishonored by so unworthy and so incompetent a resident.

This year, my wife (a Republican) pulled the White House ornament out of its storage box and handed it to me with a smile (she likes President Obama pretty well... :-) ) "Would you like to hang this up? I know you like our new President, so this should make you happy."

It did. B-)

7. I got a copy of "The Family"

the C street book that I read, but it seems that every time a scandal comes up The Family is mentioned, so I wanted to own the book as a reference.
