2. As in, "Wow, I didn't think a woman in her 60's would look different from in her 20's"? |

We had a lovely Christmas, thanks! My husband and I, both our daughters, their spouses/SO's, the grandchildren and the parents of the SO, plus my older daughter's dog, all were here!
I cooked, and we all ate like crazy!
I didn't get a lot of gifts...not too much I need at my age. Some hand-made soaps, a set of DVD's about Charles Kuralt's On The Road, some wonderful pears...and the love and company of my family!
I hope you'll have a wonderful Sunday with your family too...

11. CP, I almost died in '03 from heart disease. I'd rather be old, to tell the truth. |
|
"Dead" seems so boring, and final.
But we get no guarantees, ever...
Enjoy.

13. Grace looks to be fine with it. We're all getting older, I won't look at this as a horrible thing. |
|
I bet you can get away with all kinds of shit when you're old...

We grow old because the alternative is worse, says the old saw.
I'm generally not one of those people who fear and regret birthdays, and I've had quite a few. Sure, sometimes I get reflective on things I can't do as easily as I once could, but honestly I also think I am a better person now than 20 years ago, even with all of that youthful energy and idealism. I try to see every year as a chance to grow, to learn, to laugh, to cry, and just to BE, and that was perhaps one of the most vaulable - but difficult - lessons I've ever learned in life, and it came from my mother dying when I was young. After going through some real dark and guilt-ridden moments, I came out the other side as someone who refuses to take my life for granted, who doesn't believe in holding grudges or staying angry, and who knows that we live on long after we're gone.

16. It's funny you post this. Lately, I have thought about her, and how |
|
much she has changed. Your photos don't show the whole change. It's just amazing how different she looks. Funny how others look exactly the same after many years. dc

18. I like her looks in the 'older' photo |
|
she looks relaxed, happy and healthy, and a certain confidence about her.
the younger photo she's posing, all about the image but looks a bit tentative
ok, I could do without neck rolls too. But older Grace looks happy with herself, and that has a whole kind of beauty.
