Had 2nd round of Chemo Wed. Today I am exhausted |
|
I don't know if it is a combo of all the excitement of Christmas and the infusion
but I am totally exhausted today.
I have not done much of anything. I did 2 loads of laundry and ran the dishwasher and then slept.
I had intended on taking down our tree and putting away all the decorations, but I just didn't have the energy.

1. Take care of yourself, greenbriar. |
|
Sleep if you feel like it, I've never known anyone that didn't need lots of rest after a round of chemo.
The tree can wait until, well, whenever.

For heaven's sake, girl, take it easy! Your body is trying to tell you something!
All the things that need to be done, can be done as you are able...or get someone else to do them...
Sleep, sleep...it will help you heal...

4. I know, I know but I get that guilty feeling if I am not doing something |
|
I just feel like I am lazy if I don't do things.
no one makes me feel that way, it is just inside of me

6. But there's something you don't realize: |
|
When you're resting, you're still doing something...you're allowing your body's energy to heal you.
And while this chemo is going on, that is exactly what you need to do...
Just because it's not visible doesn't mean you aren't doing it.

you need rest. I get a type of treatment, zometa, which I found out is a type of chemo although my doctor and nurses have told me it is not. I only get the treatment every six months but it throws me for a loop every time. My latest treatment was done on the 18th, my birthday, and I am still somewhat down from it. Down with it now means a lot of bone, joint and muscle pain and all round weakness. The last few days I have slept quite a bit of the time just to escape the discomfort. Of course this is better than my first time when I was in bed (high fever, vomiting, nausea, pain and weakness) for four weeks unable to sit up.
I am not trying to compare my experience with yours, just trying to let you know that I understand how you feel and it is normal for you to need rest and lots of it. Putting chemicals in your body is something we do in desperation knowing that it will do damage as well as any good that we hope for. We have to accept the damage and work with it. I have been going through this cancer thing for almost two years and am really tired of it. Sometimes it is hard to do what they say we need to in order to get rid of this stupid disease. ugh
Now go to bed and let someone else wait on you for a change. (Here's hoping you have someone to wait on you.)
