Thank you for posting this! |

I am currently having to deal with the crazy-makings of a passive-agressive sister. I know that she has made passive aggressive insults her whole life, and so, when there is a doubt as to whether she really meant it or not, I just figure she meant it as an insult.
Crazy making, I tell you!

4. At least with outright hostile, you know where you stand - |
|
And you know what to expect and what to avoid. You even might be able to negotiate truces and compromises if the hostile person has half a brain and isn't on a power trip. But - You can't ever trust Passive Aggressive people; because they need their power trips, they'll move their goalposts without letting you know to keep control - they tend to appear to enjoy not only being miserable (poor little old victimized me), but manipulating situations and appearances to make everyone else even more miserable than they are.
Bah. They're both assholes. One's in your face while the other is behind you looking for the best spot to stab and twist.

14. Oh trust me. As a child who learned to be passive aggressive as a means to survival |
|
I can talk you into almost anything and make you think it was your idea. Direct aggression just pisses people off. Those of us who had to learn this behavior to survive are much more subtle.

The true art of passive aggression is getting your way without anyone realizing what's going on. (I'm also a survivor.)

17. I know. That's why most people would prefer us to just be aggressive |
|
They can identify it and respond to it. Passive aggression is subtle. You almost have to be there to identify it and recognize it. Those of us who live with it know the difference.
