New years eve - we decided to stay home this year. Looking like
20 degrees with snow and/or ice and high wind. Drunks on ice - too much for me.
We will have a great dinner at home.

Wake me for the ball drop.

1. I am staying home too...
my boyfriend has his daughter on New Years so we are going to make lasagna and watch whatever the hell movies 12 year old girly girls pick out (my own daughters were not so girly at that age, a girly girl is like a foreign concept for me!)

2. I don't go out on New Year's Eve.
Mostly because I have a hard time staying up til midnight.
My husband and I will make a nice dinner, have a bottle of wine, and watch The Three Stooges on tv.

Mr and Mrs Excitement... that's us!!

5. I haven't gone out NYE in ages,
know what, don't miss it a bit.

Plus it's a hell of alot cheaper making a nice quiet meal at home than it is to eat shitty food with a small glass of cheap champaigne at exhorbitant prices.

Nope, don't miss it one bit.

6. People can use earthcam.com to virtually put themselves right in Times Square during the revelries.

Fond memories still remain of me using a dial up modem to "tune in" during the late '90s. :)

Pure amateur hour with an emcee at (actually a balcony above) the Square. But he was funny. Calling people stupid for attending. (Duh, PKB much dude?)

7. We've stayed home for several years now
Took the money that we would have spent in bars and bought dinner to make at home. Sort of a tradition now. Lobster Tails, Alaskan King Crab legs and Shrimp.

9. Probably be fun to watch, not fun to participate in.....I'm old enough
that what used to be adventure is now just a pain in the ass.

Welcome.

10. We're lucky to have a wonderful neighborhood square just a five minute walk from our house.
We're going with another couple that lives in the neighborhood to the cooking school in the square for a fancy NYE cooking class, which we get to eat at the end! Then we'll walk back to their house for games and a midnight toast. I'm so excited and so glad we don't have to drive anywhere.

11. After a certain age it's known as amateur night.
I laugh at the newbies and dare them to top my tales of celebration. :-)

12. My problem is that I don't remember several of them due to blackouts,
during one of which I drove a car load of people at least 35 miles. I have absolutely no recollection of any of it. Going on 22 years alcohol free.

17. Unfortunately, it's also amateur night on the roadways.
Many of those newbies wind up behind the wheel of their cars and on the roads. :scared:

13. i've gone out on new year's eve exactly once in my life
and that was many years ago. i'm fine with just staying home and avoiding the insanity. plus, my husband has to work at 8 on new year's day, so i'm fully prepared to ring in the new year alone.

14. Drunks on ice is one thing;
here it's drunks with guns and forgetting that the slugs have to come down eventually...

15. we traditionally do a bonfire
the kids have been cutting and stacking brush all year for it. Bigger than a small house - should be a good one plus a full moon!

No need to drive and back in the day when friends could still handle partying with us, they all crashed on the floor in the living room and we would have a big breakfast and go hiking, shoot guns, or just nurse hangovers the next day.

We had some epic parties, now it IS a little difficult to hang that late, but glad to say I still can. (even though the alc consumption is much more moderate)
