OMG BAC .36
Edited on Mon Dec-28-09 07:29 PM by Kali
I know somebody who passed out and had to take an ambulance ride last night. Denial is amazing, isn't it? He claims he has a heart condition and couldn't breathe. Um, alcohol levels like that WILL depress your respiration, asshole. Permanently.

ETA a comma

4. he is fine
when you have money and resources you sober up in a nice hospital room, if you are poor you die in the street or maybe get a little time in jail

in his case the people around him will continue to suffer (and enable) for a while longer

10. In his 70's and still hittin' it like that?
....Won't be long now if he keeps this up! Is this a relatively new phenomon, or has he "phase shifted" lately? If his liver's tryin' to quit, it may not be workin' so hot anymore - so his BAC may build up over time. He may have some other dementia starting up, too - or have had strokes without knowing it when bingeing. Sorry to be a downer, just did'nt want any aspiring young drunks (like me -30 yrs.!) making a hero of this guy in their minds.

12. he's always been a "champ" but the last 10-15 years
and especially the last 5 have been really bad
I think this is the first hospitalization directly related to it and the BAC got put in the record. That could prove interesting.

Not a downer, it's reality. Hard to watch but that is about all you can do, ya know?

5. I've always wondered what my BAC was at various times in my drinking days.
I'm sure it was awful. Fortunately, I surrendered before I ever got caught. (DUI)

6. I'm sure I have gone over .3 a few times
but that was in my 20's, in college when you are sort of supposed to do that shit, this guy is in his 70's.

Here is info on calculating and what the symptoms/results are http://www.ehow.com/how_2125831_calculate-blood-alcohol-content.html and http://www.intheknowzone.com/binge/bac.htm

<snip> 10. BAC = .30-.50 = Symptoms are complete unconsciousness, depressed or absent reflexes, subnormal body temperature, incontinence, and impairment of circulation and respiration.

Death may occur at .37% or higher. BACs of .45% and higher are fatal to nearly all individuals.

13. I'm in my 20's and do my fair share of partying, I don't get far past .2
I can't imagine getting anywhere near .3 without passing out first.
