Check in if New Year's Eve and Day mean nothing to you.
I have never understood why people celebrate it. It's just another year closer to the grave. People always make resolutions, but nobody keeps them. It's just another sad lie people tell themselves. 'This year will be better. Things are gonna change.'
 Why live your life with illusions dragging you down?

7. It's a time to look back on the good things from the previous year and
celebrate another year with hope for the future... life continues.

I'm an optimist, though, by nature. YMMV

8. Why do you hate America? Is this a War on New Year's?
Just kidding. To me it's just something extra to remember whenever you write the date.

9. My year starts on a different date
Always been a non-event for me. Time is relative. I make it relative to my schedule, not some chart on the wall designed by dudes I never met.

10. Checking in.
I truly couldn't care less about these two days in terms of celebrations. I cared when I was in my 20's, but now that I'm 46...

15. It means the Twilight Zone marathon is on the Sifi channel.
For the last few years, that's been the best part. Sounds kind of lame, but I look forward to it.

2007 had me at a campaign office in Council Bluffs Iowa working straight through, that was a fun New Years.

This year, I'm enjoying my latest harvest, and some computer games, a good book or two, and of course, Twilight Zone.

I think we tell ourselves it's going to get better because all over it's a very dark time here in the North, and we need hope for good crops. It's a waaaay back thing. The whole celebration of the Winter solstice began to help the people hope for better, brighter, warmer times.

Now it's even better because we have, er, Twilight Zone on the Sifi channel.

God my life sucks.

20. I love the Twilight Zone marathon - not lame at all

Just a fun tradition.

For some reason...I find the Twilight Zone comforting.

Weird, I guess.

16. I will celebrate any holiday for any reason, I don't really care what it
represents or any of that. We have way too much seriousness in our lives and we need to party whenever possible.

"Come on, people
Let's have some fun.
You only live once
And when you're dead
You're done.
So let the good times roll...."

17. New Year's Day ranks up there with Labor Day as my two least favorite holidays.
NY Day = the end of the Christmas break and Labor Day = end of summer vacation.

We take our tree down on New Year's Day.

I don't get excited about much other than the annual fishing opener.
