May I add yet ANOTHER thread saying how awesome Avatar is? |
|
I just saw in 3D tonight and it was a totally mesmerizing experience. It was the quickest two and a half hour movie I've ever seen. I loved the Dark Knight and the Lord of the Rings movies, but they had parts that dragged on and on. Avatar did NOT have any slow parts. With the 3D, even scenes where they are just walking in the jungle, you are mesmerized by the scenery, looking around at all the moving parts to the luscious plant life. I admit I didn't want the story to end when it did, I wanted to see more. I'm absolutely going to see this again, but on IMAX 3D. What I REALLY hope is that they release a 3D version on DVD. You can't watch any other way.

2. It was absolute dreck. |

Shitty, stolen script. Wooden acting and one-dimensional characters.
You were memorized by Cameron jingling hi-tech keys in front of your face.

10. Calling the script "stolen" is a little cruel |
|
I mean, that story is so commonplace and unoriginal that it must surely be in the public domain by now, right?

5. Thumbs up on the sentiment. |

Avatar was a visually stunning parable of epic proportions. It's about beings' connection to nature and total disconnection from it. A story more for the heart than the head.
Being a fan of many artists involved in the making Avatar, adds even more appreciation for this movie for me. I can't wait to see what Avatar creature designer Wayne Barlowe does with "The Hobbit" movies!
I highly recommend it in 3-D or Imax.
