Eric's Law "The first to raise 1984 in an argument, loses" |
|
Edited on Thu Dec-31-09 02:29 PM by denem
In honor of Eric Blair (Orwell)
Godwin's Law has got a bit boring.
How about a few more?

3. I notice those "laws" do not discount the 1984 or Hitler arguments. |
|
They simply state they are ineffective at pursuading people. That's too bad because Stalin and Hitler were real and as humans were not much different than any of us. This kind of dismissal discourages the active watch we must all share in preventing that kind of thing from happening agains.

4. I don't adhere to any of those "rules". |
|
When I'm having a good conversation with someone that also disrespects those artificial "rules" and the rule-mongers show up, it's so much fun to ignore them and their petty games :D
I know Harlan Ellison is an asshole, but he still wrote some decent stories for television. I don't know why geeks have such a problem with this concept...
