Anyone got any experience with them? Just talked to a friend who's "covered" by them through her job. She recently broke her ankle (not on the job) and required surgery, the bill is presently around $20K and GW is saying they only have to pay about $2500. She's in no shape to be jumping through their hoops, I'm hoping someone will have some info that might help.
On behalf of my friend, thanks!

They have both a huge deductible and an OOP 'Out of Pocket' that means they pay very little until you reach those amounts. What I never understood is how is an 'out of pocket' limit any different from just having a higher deductible?? That never made any sense. The employer I was with who 'offered' them was the most horrible employer I ever had, so she might have a horrible employer as well. Just so she knows.
They were ok on prescriptions though, so tell her to load up on pain meds.
Those percentages sound about what they do at the beginning of a plan year, but if you don't rack up big expenses you never reach the deductible and out of pocket amounts. I would think by now she is over the deductible and out of pocket but it probably only means that horrid company will now pick up 80% of the bills at best.
Good luck to her. Buy a few lottery tickets. Probably a better bet than 'Great West Wealthcare'. When I was with them though I called them 'Lesser West' even around the office. It got laughs and no disagreements.

So you can drive down and beat an executive to forking over the dough.
