When is it just too damn cold? |

I just went up to the store for a few things and there was ICE in the INSIDE of my windshield.
That's too damn cold.

|
:scared:
I went downstairs to get a drink and noticed the floor was cold but the heat is set at the same temp. I turned on my faucet to drip and opened up the cabinet.

She's become my closest buddy.
But she did try to kill Bear.
The door to the basement was open. Bear could barely walk, but for some reason was standing at that door, looking down the stairs, and Gup was on her little hind legs with her front paws on Bears' butt, trying to push her down the stairs. I yelled "Gup!" She turned her head to look at me and then turned back to give Bear one last shove. Bear went rolling down the stairs. She wasn't hurt, thankfully. evl jr. carried her back up. Gup let it be known that she's the Queen Alpha Bitch.

20. You might want to check something |
|
That's happened to me before. Make sure your fan is pulling air from outside and not recirculating the humid interior air. The recirculate feature is great in the summer when you need the AC to cool down the car quickly. Not so great in the winter.

24. Let me know if that was it |
|
Warm air holds more moisture than does cold air so you definitely want the recirc off.
What happens is you park your car for the night and that warm moist air starts to cool and loses its capacity to hold the moisture. The inside of the windows will generally be the coldest surface so that's where the condensation will tend to form.

22. Ice on the inside of your windshield? A common occurrence in Minnesota |
|
Edited on Sat Jan-02-10 01:28 AM by Lydia Leftcoast
Be sure the air circulation is set to take in outside air, not just recirculate inside air. The frost on the inside of the windshield is the vapor from your breath.
The following things happen as the temperatures drop way past zero:
1. The snow crunches when you step on it
2. Car exhaust hovers low to the ground
3. It hurts to breathe
4. If you're wearing gloves instead of mittens, you can feel your fingers starting to get frostbitten.
5. The wind against your forehead gives you a headache
I have heard of--but never experienced--plants dying when people tried to carry them up a long walk from the car to the house in 20 below zero temps.

23. I don't like it much colder than -30. |
|
I can handle that, dress warm enough for it, but much below that is too cold even for me. It gets much colder than -30 in Interior Alaska ... which is why I live on the coast.

What really sucks is when your windshield frosts up while you are driving and you cannot even see to pull over.
