Trader Joe's 2009 Vintage Ale
Got a bottle for Christmas, and I think I will pour myself a glass.

Anyone care to join me?

1. I've got a MUCH less potent potable here, but I'll raise a glass with you.
How is it?

2. It's like a stout stout, nice full body and coffee nose
I am following the instructions on the bottle, and drinking it at near room temperature, somewhat cool. Says it can be aged like wine, getting more complex with time, and is good through September 12, 2012. To be honest, I can't wait that long. I figure waiting until 2010 is aging it enough, right?

It is good, and from what I was told, very reasonable in price. Will keep my eye out for futire bottlings. Says they change the recipe every year.

3. Aging, schmaging.
It's waited long enough. So it's kind of like a heavier Guiness? I saw the 9% and was like, "whoa!"

4. As it gets warmer
Edited on Sat Jan-02-10 12:16 AM by Zomby Woof
It gets a HEAVY clove and citrus flavor going on.

I would say heavier than Guinness in body, but MUCH tangier on the palate. The coffee undertone goes away as it gets closer to room temp. My bad for opening it so soon out of the fridge. Looks like Guinness, goes down like a very dark marzen with a twist of lemon.

An acquired taste, but I am acquiring... I am acquiring!

5. Acquire away, mate! Enjoy, as that's what it's there for.
So we can safely assume that you may if you could, purchase this product again?

6. Depends on how long it's in stock
I am fairly regular at several TJ's in the area, so I will be sure to look next visit. One of the few places I can get Full Sail ales around here.
