I've been invited to participate in a reality show
I got a card in the mail today inviting me to participate in a reality show that's going to air some time in the future on NBC. They are inviting 100 drivers who are interested in "showing, not telling, everyone what they are made of behind the wheel. The lucky drivers will get to drive on 10 closed public roads in 10 states in May of this year. If you get past the screening interview and have the entry fee of $5,000 then you may be the grand prize winner.

First Prize Ferrari F-430
Second Prize Porsche Turbo
Third Prize Corvette Z51

This is their site

2. no it's for real
I guess the entry fee is to discourage anyone who isn't serious. I'm not doing it because you have to use your own car. If I wreck it I'm sure the insurance company will tell me I'm SOL.

4. I'm with Kali on this one.
I've never heard of an "entry fee" for a reality show.

Whatever you do, good luck!

:)

6. I googled "Robin Hood Rally" scam
http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&num=100&q=%22Robin+Hood+Rally%22+scam&aq=f&oq=&aqi=

Many folks are questioning.

Google turns up a lot of info when you add the word scam into a search.

Best to ya. :-)

7. doing research and some think its a scam, but
The executive producer is Stephan Condodemetraky who is listed as a known motor-sports enthusiast and a co-developer of the club at Lime Rock Park. I'm not doing it anyways.

8. Do you not find it odd that the link bears no relation to the official NBC website?
Its a scam.

9. Any sponsors out there?
C'mere, buddy, let me pour you a drink....
I wondered where these guys had gone, they had'nt raised a lot of dust at their site near Tamworth lately. And I hear that the 'condo-fication of Lime Rock has left some pretty unhappy racers around.

The thing is - I am exactly the sort of guy they are trying to keep out with the high entry fee, lack of safety equipment, and the reality show format. If you want to drive like this without the bullshit, look at <www.hillclimb.org> for details - I've been doing it for years!
If you think that this is your ticket to fame and fortune, ace .... Time for you to do some hard thinkin'! What kind of course control do they plan to use? How will access to the course be handled? Is fire and rescue professional, trained, and equipped for motorsports? Is there any sort of sanctioning body involved, or is your only recourse whit these yutz's?

11. Like I said before
The $5,000 entry fee was a dead giveaway of something shady going on.
