Tomorrow morning Houston will have a new mayor, history is being made..
Houston elected a woman to be mayor who happens to be gay.

Annise Parker has been elected to two other city jobs before this.

Congrats soon to be Mayor Annise Parker.

I will be watching on my laptop, wish I could be there in person.

I am a very proud of my City of Houston.

2. Annise will be a great mayor.
She won in my precinct.

I would love to be there in the morning but I will be taking my Aunt to see her Dr.

I did shake Annise's hand at early voting, that was a big moment for me.

Go Annise.

3. "Houston's new leader gets sworn in with budget on mind"

"In a private ceremony on Saturday, Annise Parker, 53, was sworn in as Houston’s 61st mayor.

State District Judge Steven Kirkland, a longtime friend and former campaign manager, administered the oath of office in front of a small group of Parker’s family and friends.

Parker used her grandparents’ Bible. She plans to use the same one again at Monday’s public ceremony.

According to a statement issued by the city, Parker kept Saturday’s swearing-in private to avoid overtime costs that would have incurred if police and other city employees were needed for a weekend inauguration."

6. Thanks for jumping on the GD thread.
I was busy with my Aunt for several hours.

Wish I could have been in Houston this morning, but I was really proud in Austin.
