Dinner for tonight on a cold day.
1.Take ham bone out of freezer
2. Put in crockpot
3. Add split peas, water, onion and garlic.
4. Spices of your choice
5. Put on high and forget about it all day.

Make fresh croutons about 5 PM

Enjoy while the dogs drool on your feet.

1. You forgot the potatoes and carrots
I hope you will let the dogs have the bone after it's done.

I like my pea soup with garlic, instead of ham. Just mince and saute it in a little butter before you add the rest of the ingredients.

3. That's all I have for dinner on most nights during the winter
Right now, I'm finishing up some of Wolfgang Puck's tortilla soup:

Except for the portion I put in the freezer for some other night, that is. I added a can of black beans for extra protein. I think the next pot will be pea soup...

5. We're having chicken soup! Just put the water on to boil
with three big chicken breasts (on sale all white meat less than a whole chicken)two bay leaves,
secret herbs and spices. Two hours to cook the chicken. Debone and put chicken back in the pot; remove bay leaves. Add frozen corn, two hard-boiled eggs and noodles, pepper to taste and boil until
noodles are cooked.

Serve with Garlic bread! Yum-yum.
