Facebook is really starting to piss me off.
Edited on Fri Jan-08-10 10:32 AM by arcadian
I've turned into a babysitter for somebody who is new to the world of internet forums and doesn't get a lot of the lingo and colloquialism. So I have to explain every little thing to them, because they "don't get it". Not only that but they make really bizarre comments. Recently, another "friend" who is also a right-winger, yes this person is a right-winger too, made some over the top remarks on a post of mine and the poster I have to "babysit" basically told me to stop posting political stuff on Facebook, that facebook was not a place for that. To top things off, they are husband and wife and their names are both in their username so I have no idea who is making what comments.

I for got to add, and they post on almost every one of my threads, crap people can't understand that makes no sense because of it's broken sentence structure. Then they will post several times in a row completely destroying the post.

3. I fucking hate arguing with Objectivists
They are the most pompous and dumb people on the planet. On another forum I visit I regularly ask one of the objectivists if exploiting third-world labor for profit is an example of a moral good and every time he ducks the question and rambles about Ayn Rand. You cannot argue against people who believe it is morally right to screw the poor.

6. there's an almost delusional quality to their thinking
it's very cult-like, or something... they can't listen to any other arguments...

Most people grow out of Aynism in their early 20s, if not earlier.

11. Yep
I've heard one say his allegiance is to intellectual honesty which is why he was an objectivist. I about fell out of my chair laughing at his delusions. They are quite cultish and highly ignorant.

8. Nihilists! Fuck me.
Walter Sobchak: Nihilists! Fuck me. I mean, say what you like about the tenets of National Socialism, Dude, at least it's an ethos.

2. Delete offensive comments.
Edited on Fri Jan-08-10 10:20 AM by Orsino
You can also demote them to a custom Friend group without Wall posting privileges.

4. I've done that, and they come back whining
"Hey what, happened to my comment? I thought you were cool" or some other such bullshit.

7. One's a family member and the other is a friend from junior high.
The friend from junior high is the one making weird comments. It's not like they are sexual or abusive or anything, it's that they really make no sense. I have to wonder if they are posting after drinking a fifth of Jim Beam.

15. I agree
I'm a little choosy about whom I friend and because of that I find FB to be fun. More fun and interesting than here to be honest.

10. Time to block their posts from your wall or unfriend them. There are
no rules banning political posts from fb. Time to tell your friend he/she is not the thought police.

13. Just use your privacy setting so they cannot see your status updates.
If they can't see them, they can't comment on them.

16. Dont be scared. Kicking friends and family members off facebook is fun.
And feels great. Oh yeah they will take it personally (who knows why) but it puts a smile on your face to see them get so butt hurt over it. Well I know it does with me. Its pretty much the only reason I still have a Facebook account. To piss off family.
