I'm listening to "Einstein on the Beach" again. Of course, I won't listen to all of it. |

I don't have enough time tonight. But I am listening to parts of it. 30 years later, and it's still fucking amazing. http://vimeo.com/5297968http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0zlgQfhTFBA

1. That chord progression in the "Spaceship" section is really ingenious |

f - Db - A - B - E I wouldn't have thought it possible to create a smooth modulation between key a half-step apart, but Glass figured it out.
Glass really hasn't ever topped Einstein. I keep hoping for a chance to see it performed, but the last time (that I know of anyway) was a one-off in freaking Germany (where Robert Wilson is a lot more well-known and popular than here in the good ol' USA).

2. i no longer have any use for Phillip Glass |
|
I saw him live playing his own works on the piano. He ignored the audience, played obvious wrong notes and bolted back to the hotel without talking about his work or signing autographs.
