Tonight is Tchiakovsky night.
They are playing amongst others, the Pathetique, and a vocal version of the Romeo and Juliet, I like the orchestral version, live from Orange county and the Pacific Symphony, on the radio tonight.
And the andante funebre from the string quartet No. 3.
This is what you might call good radio.

1. If you Tchiakovsky too much, you'll go blind.
That's what I heard, anyway.

I give you the definitive version of van Cliburn:

*Trivia question/answer: Van Cliburn with the Moscow Philharmonic was the first million-selling classical album ever.

3. I really love Pathetique
It's almost like a Saint-Saens tone poem (well, to me). I love it for that, and for the jumbled structure that works so beautifully.

Offhand, I can't think of a Tchaikovsky piece I don't enjoy.
