Favorites -- How Many Do You Have?
I was just looking at the amount of bookmarks/favorites I had, and wondering briefly how many of them I really do use. I guess I'm a "collector," but now I'm wondering: how many bookmarks do other people have?

Mine are neatly organized into categories, from "animals" to "writing," with a wide spectrum in between. "Research," "science and evolution" "religion" with a sub-cat of "nutcases."

How organized are you, and how many do you have?

Mine are probably somewhere about 300 if I counted them out.

6. Yep--all backed up
I've lost so many through the years of changing computers, crashes, and everything in between. But sometimes it's best to forget the old ones, as the older ones are largely non-existent now. That's what happens when you are online since Adam and Eve. (I've been online since 1989, and surfing the Web from about 1991)

2. My dear hyphenate!
I most certainly have hundreds...not sure, since I've never counted them!

They're not organized!

7. I was like that
for a long time. It mirrored how well "organized" I was with hearth and home. <tongue in cheek> I found that even if my housework was non-existent, my computer needed some upkeep to last awhile. I've been attempting to get leaner ever since. The only problem I have now is that I "collect" things online, like fonts, TV shows, and plugins (for Photoshop) and they tend to take up space, especially the TV shows. I do back them up and transfer them to disks, though, but sometimes I get behind, and I've got a lot less space than what I'd have without them.

4. 2,994 at the moment
Loosely arranged per the Dewey Decimal system but mostly I make use of Firefox's ability to search my bookmarks via the location bar. For example, to visit DU, I just type the letter 'd' into the address window and DU is at the top of the list.

9. A person after my own heart!
I don't have that many, thank goodness. But yes, I can testify that organized is better when you have a lot more of them to get through. Sometimes I play a game where I close my eyes, open my main folder, and click on a link of which I know not. It's amazing some of the things I've bookmarked!

I go back and forth between IE and Firefox, but have found that the bookmarks are now compatible with both, so I can use the one bookmark file. It helps a lot.

14. With Firefox
I have the Location Bar set to search only my bookmarks (under privacy settings). That way, it searches only my bookmarks and not my history. Including history just confuses everything. If I visit a site I think I might want to revisit, it goes into bookmarks. I seldom have to navigate the bookmarks directly.

5. 18 give or take.
And there are only about 4 or 5 that I don't go to that much. Some of them are seasonal. Like the tropical weather page, with me being in Florida and all.

Plus, I share my pc and some of the bookmarks aren't mine. I'd probably have about 10.

Most having something to do with weather or earth sciences.

15. I have to keep trimming them down
Every favourite (at least in IE) creates a separate file that gets checked or re-created from your profile (if you have roaming profiles). If I have more than a couple of dozen, it takes 10 minutes for my machine to boot.

I just export them then merge the list with my existing exported list.
