I've been poking around on the net trying to figure this out but am having trouble understanding exactly what it means. Can someone give a technologically ignorant person an easy explanation?

thanks

1. Do you want them to push article headlines to your desktop?
That's what RSS feed does. I.e. you can see what the top stories are on that website before you even visit it. If a headline interests you, you just click the link and go to the article page, bypassing their home page. That's what RSS feed does.

2. They want you to help them feed Really Small Squirrels.
It's an honorable charity.

Okay, so I can't take things seriously, but you already got a good answer. :)

4. "Really Simple Syndication"
It's the only way to manage news/blogs. I'm subscribed to probably about fifty different feeds, all sent to my reader. That way, I can quickly peruse the list to see if there are any updates. It's faster and more efficient than visiting each site directly.
