Didn't know roof rats are capable of ripping up Oreo cookie bags |
|
they seem to prefer the white filling , live and learn.
The trap with the bait was totally ignored , they went straight to the Oreo bags above the fridge ... yikes.

1. If it's even remotely rippable, rats can rip it |
|
They probably didn't even notice that the bag was there. Frighteningly effective little critters.
Next time, stash a cat or an owl in the oreo bag - that'll fix 'em!

3. I had rats that chewed thru a plastic bottle of plant-rooting hormone, |
|
have no idea why they'd go after that; I have a cat & he kills them, be careful what you use, it may end up affecting neighbors' cats & dogs. I use non-toxic coyote urine: RatAway, STINKS to high heaven, before I put it out I shut all windows, & the combo of my darling ratkiller & that bottle of RatAway worked.

4. when you say "trap with bait" what do you mean? |
|
Edited on Wed Jan-13-10 01:50 AM by Kali
If I were you I would get a rat-size snap trap and bait it with peanut butter and chocolate (or stick a chunk of oreo in the peanut butter - make sure it is sticky and will trip the trap, not just sitting barely in/on the bait tray - if you have time and want to make sure it will work, don't set the trap for a few feedings so they get (over)confident about taking the bait.
Don't do this too long or they may steal the whole trap and chew it up. Yes, I am serious. Rats can chew through almost anything given enough time.
