Adobe GoLive vs Dreamweaver. |
|
I think Adobe blew it when they dumped GoLive. I'm still using GoLive 6 and it's so easy to use. Dreamweaver, on the other hand is something I know I should learn but it's not nearly as user-friendly and intuitive as GoLive. Is the new version any better?

1. Dreamweaver gets less user friendly with each new version. |
|
DW's an excellent program still but it used to be that a newbie could be up and running with the basics very quickly then gradually add skills as needed. I don't sense that being the case anymore.

Never looked back. Taught DW too, loved every minute of it.

4. I use Dreamweaver and never got into the GoLive "vibe." |
|
That's pretty ironic, considering the fact that I built my first Website in PageMill (the product Adobe dumped when they decided to go with GoLive...PageMill came with the bundled software on my first computer, a Sony).
You might consider Lynda Weinman (lynda.com)'s excellent "H.O.T." ("Hand On Training") series. For Dreamweaver 8, they released "Dreamweaver 8 Hands On Training" and "Dreamweaver 8 Beyond The Basics."
The books come with a CD containing all of the exercise files (the books are project-based tutorials) as well as QuickTime movies showing what's happening on the screen...very useful for getting familiar with the user interface, etc.
Lynda.com also offers the same content online, but you have to subscribe to access it.
