I only have 2-3 hours a day of energy to put into anything.
My mother is threatening to make me drop out if I don't go to every class I have.
She is the least helpful person in the world, although my dad is a close second.
He texts me every day to ask if I'm still depressed.
I hate the world. I hate everyone. Well, most people.
Thank god I'm seeing a shrink tomorrow. Not that I expect him to help. Nobody does.

They dont require much effort and give you lots of love! Hang in there man , I have experienced intense depression through my mom and I know it is hard. Are you going to college? If so see if they have any help for students with mental illness. Perhaps not just counseling but special help with classes . Your mental illness might be considered a disability

I'm sorry you are going through such a rough time with your mental health issues. I'm burying my 33 year old husband on Monday afternoon. Please cherish the life you have been given and try to realize that you are now an adult and your life doesn't depend on help from others.

3. You are just starting, L and S |

Things are hard at school for people who don't have a mental illness. If you are prone to depression it can make things seem insurmountable. You are seeing life through the filter of depression right now, and I know things aren't really going your way to begin with. Go see the psychologist. Are you taking any medication right now?

11. Yeah, but it'll probably change soon. |

I've been on anti-depressants for my anxiety, but they made me manic because I probably have some form of bipolar.
Right now I'm on 0.5 mg of Klonopin 3 times a day for anxiety, which kind of works. Small blessings. I'm on trazodone for sleep, which did help a lot, but is now pointless because I am on a dose of seroquel (25 mg) which has no therapeutic effects other than causing sleepiness.
I've heard this psychiatrist is really good, so I'll try and put my faith in him. How are things going for you?

4. what's your course load like...? |

if it's too stressing, lighten it up, and work on your mental health. regular exercise is a great way to get started. it can also take time to find the right meds or combination thereof- but they're probably out there. cymbalta & adderall seem to be working well in combination for me. time will tell.

I'm not too familiar with your background, sorry but why will you see a shrink? ;-) I have that thought just about every day I wake up

7. No, I won't fuck your life. But I'll tell you this: |
|
Have that shrink prescribe antidepressant medication for you.
And take that medicine. And do not drink.

9. hahahaha, anti-depressants make me manic. |
|
I've been on two for anxiety. One time it was the unfun kind of manic, one time it was the fun kind.
Thanks for the suggestion, though. I'm hoping to get on a mood stabilizer. And I was never a drinker in the first place.

14. There are drugs that work on both depression and anxiety |
|
because I have been on them.
You say you hate people, well maybe you are a misanthrope and that is just a fact of life, but nothing to blame yourself for or to feel guilty for. I have come to embrace it and make it part of my uniqueness. Perhaps you should just stop thinking about your mother and dad for a while. Put them on hold and focus on other things. You cannot please others when you are so dissatisfied. Think about things that make you happy. Watch a movie that makes you smile. Go somewhere that makes you feel comfortable/peaceful. Don't think about or do anything harmful to yourself. Get through the time until you see the psychiatrist and then go from there.
Take care and get well.

15. give the shrink a chance but look into physical causes |
|
i've had relatives who had only 2-3 hrs a day to put energy into anything
one of them was wrongly dx'd w. depression and had cardio-vascular disease, almost died before she had a heart attack and rec'd emergency bypass surgery
another one turned out to have untreated lyme disease, which caused long term chronic fatigue syndrome
i'm aware that med-resistant clinical depression exists BUT if you are not being helped, i would also be careful to investigate other causes of yr lack of energy -- there are many, many, many disease that cause a lack of energy and some of them kill if left untreated too long
not trying to scare you, i'm just saying, you need to check out ALL your options
yr mom and dad are not medical doctors and if they are pressuring you to just "snap out of it" when it's possible you have a condition that requires medical treatment, they are not being helpful even if they think they're demonstrating their love by offering all kinds of useless suggestions -- don't know what you can do abt that except say "ok mom, ok dad" and pretend to listen while actually tuning them out until such time as they have the proper medical credentials...
