1. And an even dumber movie.
I work at a DVD rental store. Several years ago, a couple that appeared to be redneck losers came in, and were wandering around. I mentally spanked myself for thinking they were redneck losers when they asked me where the "Classics" section is.
Can't judge a book, I tell myself. Then they say, "Yeah, we love Classics, like that movie "Convoy".

Hoo-boy.

12. Oh girl,
I remember that gem. Nothing wrong with a little guilty pleasure, as long as one knows it crap.

Thanks for putting that little ditty into my head.

8. Hey, that was out about the same time as "Smokin' in the boys room" - the early 70's version.
And Ray Stevens doing "The Streak". "Ethel, YOU-GET-YOUR-CLOTHES-ON!"

14. Bit of a follow-up...
Edited on Fri Jan-15-10 07:34 PM by Archae
One of the guys who made that song, Chip Davis, used his share of the profits to start his own group, where he could make "17th Century Rock" as he put it.

The group was named "Mannheim Steamroller."

And now you know the Rest Of The Story...

17. You really want a laugh? Plot out the trip they took
We're talking a real simple run--San Francisco to somewhere in New Jersey, probably the ports in the Newark area although he never says exactly where.

CW McCall's routing: SFO -> Tulsa -> Chicago -> NJ and Pig Pen had to go to Omaha, although WHY his shipper couldn't find a slaughterhouse closer than Omaha is beyond my comprehension.

Anyway, if you were going through Tulsa you wouldn't see Chicago (you'd use I-40 to Tulsa, I-44 from there to St. Louis and I-70 the rest of the way in); if you were going through Chicago--more likely if you had a truck that needed to go to Omaha--you'd run I-80 until you got to I-76, then take I-76 to I-70 and I-70 to the port of New Jersey.

Come on, CW...diesel wasn't THAT cheap in the 1970s.
