Conan Strikes Deal with NBC (TMZ)
Posted Jan 16th 2010 12:45AM by TMZ Staff

Conan O'Brien and NBC have reached a settlement in principle and the big announcement is expected Saturday, sources tell TMZ.

We're told NBC has already given Conan's lawyers a draft of the agreement and his hired guns were going over it Friday night. The deal should be finalized Saturday.

Once the deal gets inked, NBC will announce Conan is leaving the network. The network will also announce what we first reported -- that Jay Leno will get the full hour from 11:35 PM to 12:35 AM and it will be called "The Tonight Show" -- just like old times.

1. I knew Zucker was full of shit
Saying he was going to keep Conan off the air for 3.5 years. The guy is out of his freakin mind. Where do the networks get these people? He's almost as bad as the group that ran Fox a few years ago.

2. In other news, Leno is an ass
Jay Leno used his Friday night monologue to go after David Letterman for his recent sex scandal. Leno, who once offered kind words for his CBS counterpart, said "Even Dave Letterman taking shots at me. Which is a surprise. Usually he's just taking shots at interns."

7. Sure, it's funny but it belies it certain level of viciousness
but I will note that Conan never went after Letterman when the whole blackmail thing surfaced. Unlike Carson, Leno is winding up as the least respected comic/host in history.

3. About the only peple left to watch Leno will be his family
Way to go, Jeff Zucker. He did what no one else could do in 60 years - he ruined the Tonite show.

8. Zucker's plan to destroy NBC is almost complete
Zucker’s critics are ranting that first he killed comedy, losing the NBC franchise of Thursday night “Must See TV,” where “Seinfeld,” “Friends” and “Will & Grace” once hilariously reigned; then he killed drama, failing to develop successors to the formidable “ER,” “West Wing,” and “Law & Order”; then he killed the 10 o’clock hour by putting Jay Leno on at a time when people expect to be told a story; and then he killed late night by putting on a quirky redhead who did not have the bland mass-market appeal of Leno and who couldn’t compete with the peerless late-night comedian NBC had stupidly lost 16 years ago, David Letterman.

13. Law & Order SVU and 30 Rock are the only good shows on that network.

6. I find them all singularly unfunny (excepting Ferguson). As if these men are the only options in
show-biz.

9. Ugh.
I don't think I can watch Leno anymore after what happened to Conan, no matter what time slot he's in now. Who knows - if a large number of people feel the same way this could be the time that The Tonight Show finally goes the way of the dinosaur.

12. Remember when NBC was THE network?
They had Cosby and Seinfeld and West Wing and ER and Friends and Will & Grace.
